Subject: WordPress - Plugin Update Issues
The following message was sent by our staff regarding the above subject:
Hello!
If you run into an error, try each plugin update one at a time, using the [ ] select box and Update, you can see all the individual errors/issues.
FYI: 775 allows writing but is not full public (777) permission and is much safer.
First:
If any plugin updates give you an issue, first try to set permissions to 775 (using File Manager/Change Permissions) for the specific plugin directory for any initial error (ex: plugins/advanced-woo-search)
Some examples of errors that might be received:
- An error occurred while updating Advanced Woo Search: Could not move the old version to the upgrade-temp-backup directory.
Action:
Change permission for wp-content/upgrade-temp-backup to 775 -R (recursive)
///////
Cleantalk-anti-spam -- same error:
Action:
Change permissions for wp-content/plugins/(all directories to 775)
Done!
////////
General (present with all plugin updates)
- The update cannot be installed because some files could not be copied. This is usually due to inconsistent file permissions. /usr/local/4admin/apache/vhosts/domain.com/httpdocs/wp-content/languages/
Action:
Same for wp-content/languages -- change to 775 -R (recursive)
/////////
After that, try all other plugins updates at once (using Select All) and repeat single use if there is a problem.
Please feel free to contact us again if you have any other questions or issues. Thank you for contacting us.
