Subject: Email - POP3 SSL Certificate Issues
The following message was sent by our staff regarding the above subject:
An update to POP3 SSL (mail protocol) and security may require some changes to be made on the client end, especially with Apple mail programs and or devices.
If you're receiving an error when connecting to POP3 SSL for your domain and or your email client or device is unable to verify the certificate, or domain, it is safe to confirm the security exception for the domain name mismatch to *.webmasters.com.
We are using a trusted and valid SSL certificate for *.webmasters.com, when connecting to your mail.yourdomain.com (where yourdomain.com is your actual website) through the primary server address (DNS).
To avoid security exceptions completely (or if you're unable to confirm them in your mail client), please change the POP3 SSL INCOMING and OUTGOING mail server addresses:
*
* Recommended email server settings for your domains are located in your control panel Email Manager
*
from mail.yourdomain.com
to: nsXX.webmasters.com (replacing the XX using the information below)
nsXX.webmasters.com is the primary name server address of your server which is located on the left-hand side of your control panel:
USERNAME: (your username)
SERVER: xx (your server number)
STATUS: Active (account status)
Further down you will see the primary server address:
PRIMARY SERVER ADDRESS (or PRIMARY DNS:):
nsXX.webmasters.com
////////////////////////
Once you have that information, remember to set the matching SSL port.
POP3 SSL uses these ports:
Incoming: 995
Outgoing: 465
////////////////////////
As an alternative to POP3 SSL for incoming, you can use IMAP SSL (This works well for multi-device connections and for mobile devices such as Android and iPhone)
IMAP SSL uses:
incoming server: xx.webmasters.com (where xx is your server number, located in your control panel),
root folder/IMAP server directory: INBOX
port 993
All OUTGOING mail is POP3, so for POP3 SSL, it would be necessary to change that server address using the directions for nsXX above.
We apologize for any inconvenience.
Please feel free to contact us again at any time if you need additional assistance. Thank you for contacting us.
Best regards,
