Subject: My email is being blacklisted from Gmail Yahoo Comcast etc. What can I do
The following message was sent by our staff regarding the above subject:
The issue is that we are a shared host. We have customers constantly coming
to a from, and as such, some customers are ill-intentioned. They may create
an account just to SPAM. We have guards in place, but it only takes one
piece of mail to cause the system to get temporarily black listed. We also
have novice users that experiment writing code such as PHP or ASP which mail
information to users. A lot of times these scripts are abused and we have
to disable them and remove any junk email in queue. Our users also have
catch-all email accounts that allow domains to be spoofed, or even "better",
customers use weak passwords on POP accounts and they are abused.
We do our best to stop SPAM and occasionally something like this will
happen. We do not act as "big brother", so we do not feel it necessary to
not allow customers to write their own scripts (even if improperly secured),
or to not be able to use catch-alls, which forward to their personal ISP mailboxes (Comcast, Earthlink, AOL, etc..).
Generally the server will be removed from the blacklist within a day or hours of being placed on it. The problem is those anti-spam organizations unfairly blacklist and because we're a shared host we get the brunt of it (no matter what we've tried to say in the past) You can also use your ISP's outgoing mail server to send mail until it happens. Otherwise we can provide you with a special private smtp server if all else fails.
Please feel free to contact us again if you have any other questions or issues. Thank you for contacting us.
